Can An Organization Avoid Having Unlabeled Chemicals?

All hazardous chemicals in the workplace must be labeled and must have MSDS documentation. It is a good idea for your company to have a checkpoint in its facilities beyond which no chemicals may pass without an MSDS or label.

In addition, salespersons should not be allowed to bring samples into the plant without an MSDS and should be required to take all samples with them when they leave. Requiring that all samples be taken away by the salesperson who brings them also helps avoid the problem of disposing of those sample chemicals.

Finally, monitor petty cash purchases of chemical supplies for MSDS documentation.
